Tonight, Laura and I went out to her RIADI (Ryerson Institute for Aerospace Design and Innovation) BBQ. It’s like UW’s co-op, but only for the aerospace students and not nearly as well run. Also, instead of charging $400 a term, they take a cut of the students’ earnings - over a third of what Laura earns in an hour. Because of this, they have a fuck ton of money and so the drinks were subsidized by the organization, making them only $2 each. Since it was mostly engineers there, there was a lot of drinking.

Laura took pictures early on in the evening, when people had just begun drinking and only had 0-1 drinks in front of them. These were primarily for the official record or newsletter or whatever. I felt weird taking pictures then, since they’re not really people I know.

Mr. Gaeta! Well, that’s what Laura thinks and after telling him so (months ago) the guy went and watched all of Battlestar Galactica (and loved it).

Laura explained to me that the reason this guy has pornstar-esque escorts is that he has an accent.

Later on I did take pictures… while they were all well lubricated with beer and didn’t care. Except they did care as it appears some of them know of this site and were pleased they might see themselves here. Nice.
Anyway, it was a good time. The food was good barbeque food. There was only one meat portion each and unlimited other stuff… so a lot like the cafeteria in residence at SJU.

Laura and I sat with Matt and Ian, Matt’s roommate who looked sort of like my old roommate, Jeremy.

As the night went on, people learned that the $2 beers ended at 9pm and so right around then, a giant line of people going for their last drinks formed. I went and grabbed two, one for Laura and one for me. I then saw a bunch of girls come from the line to sit at the table next to ours with two beers. I figured they had one for their significant others but then their boys came back with four themselves. Ridiculous. So the table that used to be empty quickly filled up with those who were staying longer to drink more. It was interesting.

When all the food tables were cleared off, the bar was going to throw out the leftover potato and macarponi macaroni salads but instead one guy grabbed the entire bowl of one and another guy heaped a bunch of the other onto a plate.

Um… yuck.

I had to tell Laura to put on earmuffs while I discussed the fuckability of the bartender with Matt and Ian. Though honestly, she already knew what my response would be =p
As the night went on, people came over to our table to hang out and chat for a bit and then would leave. We were the cool table the others came to hang out at and anyone who says different is a liar.

After finally finishing the last of their $2 drinks, the group decided to head to another bar to continue their drinking. Laura chose then to disappear from the group like ninjas in the night to buy snacks and go watch Scrubs.
we’re all going in the same direction
